Just had my last ultrasound at 9weeks 4 days and it was so amazing to see my little bean starting to look like a baby! but I now have to wait all the way until I’m 18weeks to see baby again! Omg it’s going to be so hard this part sucks. Any tips for me to get through this time?

My OB shows us the baby and listens to baby’s heartbeat at each monthly appointment. They use a wand and an iPad. The two big ultrasounds are done at another imaging center. So we have been able to see baby twice now.

once you hit 12weeks you can use an at home doppler to hear baby’s heart beat. You can find them on amazon or buy the “baby doppler” brand from their website.
It’s not recommended to do this often, but it is safe to use on occasion. I would use it during my first pregnancy if I ever felt super nervous between ultrasounds or if I was having a hard time feeling baby move

I’m high risk so I get more scans. But I highly recommend getting a private scan halfway through your waiting period if you can! It’s like 50-90$ depending on area.

@kcub,
I love the extra scans too! I'm high risk and see a perinatologist, he's gotten more protective with my crazy history the last 5 years, so I go like every 3-4wks and get a pretty detailed ultrasound each time. I get the full growth scan every 6ish weeks with a mini in between. I love watching the baby grow so closely.

I always get private ultrasounds in between to ease my nerves

@brewingAwarrior,
I think I’ll have to do that within the next 3-4weeks for sure

Same I won’t get my next ultrasound until 20 week. They do listen to the heartbeat with the Doppler at each appointment from around 10 weeks

i have an US at 12w (end of may) and then the next is at 20w. in between, i have one midwife appointment and she doesn't have an US machine but uses her doppler to listen to the heartbeat. she also does BP check and urine sample and just listens to what I have to say about my symptoms. it was like that in my previous pregnancy. only get 3 US, at 12w, 20w and 32w (and if she is breech at 32w, they might so another at 37w). they so litens to the HB every appointment.
